About license
The license scheme is an insurance product from Gjensidige in collaboration with NFIF and Idrettens Helsesenter (IHS), with the aim of looking after all athletes at all levels in Norwegian athletics. Since its introduction in 2014, just over 10,000 injuries have been treated at IHS.
A license is required, from the year you turn 13 up to and including the year you turn 80, to participate in all events organized by the Norwegian Athletics Federation and its clubs*.
Children up to the age of 13 are insured through the sport's children's insurance. Read more HERE.
There are two types of licences, which are again divided into sub-types;
- Annual license (Purchased separately through iSonen.no)
- Basic license (requirement for membership in an athletics club)
- Extended license (requirement for membership in an athletics club)
- Day license (Purchased in the registration system for the convention in question)
- Day license: Track and field (requirement for membership in an athletics club)
- Day license: Off-track (NO membership required)
You can find more information about the individual licenses by clicking on the boxes above
*Exceptionally, the license scheme does not apply in track meets where the participants represent their school or military department, ref. NFIF's law §20.2.
